Friendly staff. Good 1/2 price oysters during HH (M-TH 11-4). Ordered the lunch special monkfish; it was delicious.

Services and food are great here. If you like cauliflower try the roasted cauliflower. Really good. I had the duck, delicious but the portion was smaller than expected. The good thing is it leaves room for ice-cream after. Two of my other friends had the Seafood pan which looked very good. The seafood there is very fresh. Good selection of cocktail and beer too. If you plan to go there make a reservation beforehand.

Thank you very much we had an amazing experience here and the food was amazing. We went during restaurant week. We had great Service, If you want to be treated like a valued guest this is the spot for you. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a meal. You did not feel rushed you could enjoy your meal. The food was delicious. We will be returning soon.

When I travel I really look forward to great food experiences. This place missed the mark. The inside is trendy and nice. We were seated quickly (30 minute wait about on a seemingly busy summer night). Our waitress was not very attentive. We were seated and waited a very long time for her to come over - we were about 2 seconds from getting up and leaving. We were offered bread after we placed our orders, which was cold and came with just olive oil. No dipping seasonings, no butter, meh. The food was not bad, definitely edible, but not great for a $90 meal for 2 people I expected better. The food was not good enough to warrant coming back. I had higher expectations based on the reviews.

Best Oysters I have ever had

Lobster roll was just okay; my wife loved the seafood pasta, even though they said they couldn't leave out the scallops as requested because everything is preportioned (preportioned seems not good)

Our favorite spot to stop into when he get into Newport. Best oysters around and fun place on the weekends with live bands at night.

Good food with lots of good appetizers. Really enjoyed the variety of oysters they have to offer. Variety of warm water/cold water oysters that tastes very sweet. Also a nice selection of beer (a few good local RI IPAs)

Oysters and more!So many choices we considered just eating oysters and salad. We tried three kinds and loved them all. The roasted beet salad and the chopped salad were perfect. And the lump crabmeat salad was creative and fresh. Decent wine list - we shared a lovely Malbec. Our waitress Joanne was attentive without being intrusive, and aware and careful with my food allergies. So why only four stars? The clam chowder was not so great. Ingredients were mostly potatoes and celery, and what clams were in it were tough and tasteless. We will be back for sure. Many more oysters to try!

Love Midtown Oyster Bar! Had a wonderful meal there last week. Can't go wrong with any of the seafood options and of course the oysters. I especially enjoyed the tuna tartare tacos and having my first order of "Stuffies." The service was also very good. Highly recommend checking out Midtown if you're in the area.

Avoid the tourist traps and walk to this oyster bar. Once at the restaurant, just start ordering seasonal oysters and pair it with a couple good wines. Excellent place. Thanks Brigitte for the oyster recommendations. Great service

Food was amazing! Best service we’ve had in Newport. Callie, our bartender, was excellent, so attentive and took her time describing the menu items and gave us tips on the area since we were out of town. So helpful! We had the calamari and oysters....On point :)

Excellent food, locationn, and service. On the top of my list for Newport. Recommend a reservation as it fills up quickly.

Food was mostly good, drinks pretty good too, but having a mouse run back and forth during dinner was pretty gross. Told the waitress, and would have expected them to maybe buy us a drink or something, but no offer was made.

Loved it. Went during their half off oysters/raw bar items (11 to 5 on a Tuesday). We sat at the bar. Bartender was very friendly and made a great not so dirty martini- even had my favorite bleu cheese stuffed olives. The oysters were superb- we ordered another dozen after the first! Tuna tacos were great as well. Definitely will go back.

Tay is a phenomenal bartender! Handled the place efficiently and he was so personable the whole time. ðŸ€

Table for 2, with reservations. We were seated at a small table in the middle of the entrance to the room. Wait staff running by constantly with food and drinks. I was hit several times in the shoulder by trays. Shame on you for setting up those tables. Shame on me for not complaining.

The place was nice. We sat on the back patio, which was covered and comfortable. The fish and chips was great. The oyster stew was totally flavorless.

Great food- oysters and their fish plates. The service is nice too. Their drinks however are not the best!
Ron Zaycer
Great raw oysters, drunken mussels, burger, fish tacos, and on and on. Wonderful service. Relaxed atmosphere. This place is solidly great.

Fun restaurant/bar. If you like oysters, this place is for you! The bar/restaurant downstairs is lively and busy. The food was tasty and the wait staff were great. Upstairs the bar was hopping. There's an outdoor area as well as plenty of indoor bar area.

Oyster and Seafood are really good, but the other food in there were just so so. I recommend the fresh seafood!

Walked and as soon as I heard they had an upstairs bar I went straight up the stairs. Beautiful building, we split 2 appetizers and the food was glorious. The bartender was especially awesome, mixed good drinks and cured my hiccups We will def return.

Great ambiance, food and people. Paul was our waiter and he made it a great night. Accommodated any request, had a great demeanor and sense of humor and made the night fun. I was with two kids and they loved it. Thanks all. And great architecture!

Went for lunch, everything had great flavor and there was plenty of seating for lunch, but would recommend a reservation for dinner. House made hummus was excellent! We got fish soup, oysters, hummus plate, shrimp and spinach salad and were very pleased with all of it!
Gregory Merchel
Service was good and location is great. Ambiance on the second flooor is much nicer than the lower level. We did not like the clam linguini, needed salt which should not ever be needed with clams. The seafood pan roast was way too liquidy, more like a stew with rice in it. Crab papardelle was good.

Great place to order through Grubhub.

Started with 1 oyster each from 4 different local farms. Oyster stew, heavenly. Octopus salad special, cooked and seasoned perfectly. Bermuda fish chowder, delicious. And below, the poyboy sandwich... Can't go wrong with deep fried oyster bellies and shoestring fries. Literally, a few were as tall as my glass 😋
Katie Campbell
Delicious selection of oysters and beer. Would highly recommend!

Had a great experience with good food and customer service.

The fish and chips were some of the best I have had in a long time. The oysters were also excellent with several choices. Prices were reasonable and our waitress was very good. I will go back if in the area.

Very good. Excellent oysters both local and Washington state. Great oyster stew with plump oysters. Entres(scallops and fish) were good. However it was very noisy, including several tables with screaming and crying children and babies. The service was slow (2 hours). Dinner for two was $180 before tip.

I had the Good Burger with truffle fries, medium rare, and I was very pleased! Roasted cauliflower was a delightful appetizer. However, a friend of mine ordered the fries chicken sandwich with no spicy mayo and slaw on the side. Her sandwich HAD spicy mayo and slaw on it. Additional it's supposed to have cheddar on it, no cheddar was on the sandwich.

Very Very Good Food and Extremely friendly staff!!! However, if you are looking for cheap prices this is not the place for you. Very large booths are great for large groups of 6 or more. No parking on site but the paid parking facility is a short 2 minute walk away and cost $10.00 to park.
Patricia
Food - lobster was very tasty! However, I walked in at approximately 3:50 and was handed a lunch menu. I made my selection and when waitress arrived I will told I had to order from dinner menu. I only wanted something lite. I was a bit frustrated! I voiced my frustration. How cordial, soothing and personable was Ransford! I discussed my frustration with him who listen to me for several minutes! Just showing how he cared for me makes me feel like I should return in the future.v

Awesome seafood dishes with a great ambience and excellent service. Several levels and outdoor seating. The only bummer was finding parking.
Darryl H
The grilled Octopus! Best I've ever had! Going tomorrow and I'm excited for it!. excellent oyster selection!!

Great lobster roll and the clam pasta was perfect. The paella like something did not tasted that well and the sauce was too runny. The pretty waitress however really took care of us.The level of water in the glass sometimes reflect the level of service you are getting which in my case, it never went below half.
ashley gim
The service was great and the food is excellent. The oysters and calms very fresh. The calms and linguini was very good but I didn't like the calms a lot. I had a scallop dish and it very good. I would eat it again. But I got an allergic reaction from the fruit. Which was only grapefruit. And the bowl full of mussels and fries very the best thing of all.
Peter Foster
Great food, went for oyster stew but everything was great!
Bob Russo

Favorite restaurant in Newport. The great menu extends beyond oysters. Try the French onion soup... you're welcome.

Been coming to Newport for decades. Today was the first time we tried Midtown Oyster Bar, and well, we went twice - lunch and dinner! Food, service, and atmosphere were perfect, and the menu had so many great options. I can definitely say we will be back. Our favorite was the Spicy Salmon Ceviche, but we also tried oysters (of course), the Midtown Sushi Roll, Tuna Tartare Tacos, Lump Crab with Pappardelle Pasta, and the Seared Duck Breast. Well done, Midtown!
Maureen Saltzer
Terrific food, fantastic service, fair prices. First level is pretty noisy but it gets quieter on 2nd and 3rd floors. We had a very large party and the staff could not have been more accommodating to our needs. Highly recommend the dark and stormy bread pudding.
Jay Molloy
Cool vibe. Great food. Friendly service. Stopped in mid-afternoon for a couple appetizers and a beer. Steamed clams were delicious, and the buffalo oysters came with a blue-cheese slaw that was perfect. If there weren’t SO MANY restaurants to try, we would be back for another meal on this trip. Very well done.
